WiMAX : One United and Global Broadband Internet Standard

Interconnected Bronze SculptureRecently, making splashes and ripples in the news pondularity, Intel are drumming up interest in a Global WiMax (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) standard for 2008.

You can find more information at: http://www.tgdaily.com but essentially it describes how Intel, Nokia, Sprint and hundreds of other technology vendors are calling for adoption of a single standard for wireless broadband Internet which you may have access too wherever you may travel.

Dreams of climbing the highest mountains and trips into the deep jungle only to whip out your laptop from the rucksack and Watch a few YouTube videos, Digg an article and making a couple comments on SlashDot could be realized within a matter of a few years.

Intel want to make the upgrade process to the new technology as painless as possible and you will be able to swap out any existing WiFi hardware you may have and insert in it’s place the super-charged WiMax module instead. I for one welcome the promise of a global broadband and especially since it can reach speeds of up to 10Mbit over 10Km and 70Mbit in closer vicinities I daresay it’d be even faster than any such way that I am browsing and downloading here at home.

Lovely.

So, good on you Intel and Co. bring it on, you’ll find me blogging in the Alps.
